... good taste, in coffee and in automobiles ... |
I first met Rochford while working at the Ford Motor Co. Research Laboratory in 1976. Both of us lived in the southwest side of Ann Arbor and had worked a brief time for 'OmniText', a small Ann Arbor company building minicomputer based phototypesetting terminals. At Ford SRL we also briefly worked on designing and implementing diagnostic functions for the early on-board powertrain control computer: EEC-II. We both share an interest in sportcars; he has a Porsche 993, a V-12 E-type Jaguar, and a Datsun 240 Z. We also both participated in the Dexter - Ann Arbor Road Run (10 Km) this past 27 May 2000.
Roch helped me bring my Zenith Blue, Tourist Delivery Boxster 'ZeeBee' home from its Charleston, SC Port of Entry and PDI facility. It was an interesting and enjoyable sportcar roadtrip. During that journey described in detail other pages, we drove down south from Ann Arbor in my 1986 Porsche 911 'Leukhippos' and came back north with both cars in convoy. Roch had the opportunity to drive and compare two other Porsche types and I avoided air travel.
