The Trip . . .

In the midlle of summer 2002, I read an announcement on Porsche Pete's Boxster Board that the Boxstoberfest was being organized by some Texans and scheduled for the first two days in November. The location was to be Fredericksburg and the Texas Hill Country west of Austin, TX.

Bob Bianconi, Fort Worth, TX and Rob Granger, Houston, TX were two of the instigators of this tour. The third was Mike Rentner (a.k.a., Skyler), of the Austin, TX area. He is one of the contributors to and deputies of the Boxster Board, and he had hosted an an earlier autumn tour: 2001 Texas Hill Country Turkey Shoot Drive I attended the previous year.

The Route . . .

While Fredericksburg was our base of operations, the Texas Hill Country drive was to start from a group lunch at the Hill Top Restaurant. Skyler sent me the driving directions and I generated a track (gray, in map below) to overlay on a digital map of the area west of Austin, TX. The actual drive track (purple, in map below) closely followed this route.
