RED-LINE SMILEY :)
I am a University professor and wish to announce that I have just received approval from the Academic Programs Council to offer a new Spring 1998 course, POR 3000: Understanding the Boxster Option List. This semester length course will meet for 2 hours MWF and will entail 3 hours of homework each night. It is anticipated that students completing this intensive 5 month course of study will have enough knowledge of Boxster options to actually be able to order a car. The course counts for 6 credit hours, and members of the American Psychiatric Association will receive continuing education credits in the specialty area "Understanding the Porsche Mindset". In this course you will learn: 1) how to figure out which options listed as available actually are available, 2) how to use the Internet to see what options look like when your dealer has no samples or pictures, 3) how to identify and correct errors in the official options lists, 4) how to resolve inconsistencies between options lists issued at different points in time, 5) how to make sense of conflicting and required options, 6) how to find out the prices of options when no price is listed, and 7) how to predict when options offered will suddenly become unavailable and new ones added. Homework assignments will address such issues as a) why the hardtop is available in 2 colors the car itself does not come in, b) why Ocean Jade is the only hardtop color not available through Tequipment, c) why full leather interiors in red and green are listed as covering more area than other full leather interiors when they do not, d) why many options listed on 6/27/97 are not listed on 10/16/97 even though they are still available, e) whether illuminated vanity mirrors are or are not an option, and f) what supple leather actually looks and feels like. There are no prerequisites for the course, and it will not be necessary nor helpful for you to have access to a Porsche dealership during your course of study. However, Internet access will be essential in order to get options information necessary for completing the course assignments. Deadline for Spring semester enrollment is December 15, 1997. If you are interesting in enrolling please contact the course instructor, Professor Robert Scharf. Reply by John Cochran Dear Professor Scharf: Before I enroll in your course, I need to know if a successful matriculant being graduated from your course gets to hang the tassle from a boomerang shaped mortarboard. Further, is the mortarboard made of plastic, and if so, is there an upgrade to full leather for $2300 or less. Is supple leather an even more costly option? Finally, will the tassle also be available in silver for less than $800? |
