Speculation on where Boxsters will be produced

had agreed to keep Boxster/Cayman product in Finland for 4 years. Magazine issue from 2007 so this would leave production in Finland until sometime in 2011. (The switch over would take place at model switch over time, the close of production for the current model year and before production started for the new model year.)

I think too pressure will be on Porsche -- now that VW owns it -- to move as much production back to Germany as possible. The higher labor cost will be of course borne by those who buy Porsches. This moving of production back to Germany buys some goodwill for VW and perhaps will make it easier to move VW production out of Germany to cheaper places so to better compete on price with other competing brands of cars.

Sincerely,

MarcW.

In 2012 production of the Boxster and Cayman will shift to Graz Austria. Magna Steyr also will asemble the Aston Martin Rapide, Peugeot 308 RC Z, & the BMW X1 and currently produces several VW models. They recently bid to take over GM European Div of Opel and Vauxhall.

Edit: Sorry I didn't read the first link stating production may not end up with Magna
